Tutorials on Nvu
Version 0.81 (which is what I am using to construc these opages) has a nice tutorial accessible from the Help menu.

If you like the idea of building a whole site (either for yourself or as a parish site that is bigger, brighter & generally snazzier than what the  Diocese offers you) then have a look at the sitewizard.com where there are a series of lessons. They are written for someone acting as the webmaster for a site - so publication features high on the agenda! There are links that tell you how to get a free hosting service, so go play!

For an excellent in-depth manual of Nvu go to Charles Cooke's User Guide to Nvu HTML Web Authoring Tool for Site Development. An excellent piece of work that will, I believe, be incorporated into the Help function of version 1.0 of Nvu. You can download a copy in Acrobat Reader format and work through it off-line.

Thinking of a career as a web developer?
You will need to know the HTML 4 and the Cascading Style Sheet standards. I got my copies from the Web Design Group - realistically called htmlhelp.com! You can download copies to work with off line.

Learning about style & layout.
The best way is to go and look at sites that appeal to you, decide what it is about them that works for you, then look at their source code and see how the developer did it.
Firefox, Mozilla : Point the mouse at a frame / page, right-click , choose This Frame, View Frame Source.
Internet Explorer 5 : Point the mouse at a frame / page, right-click , choose View Source.
Epiphany : Point the mouse at a frame / page, left click to set the frame. View, Page Source on the Menu bar.

There are lots of sites on the web that you can look to for ideas - like the local (South African) Web Developer's Showcase.

(Do you want to see related pages, the whole site or the non-frames Sitemap?)
