Site Layout and Navigation

Purpose of the site.
This was perhaps best described by Bishop Brian when he wrote "we want to welcome you to this our diocesan web-site. Whoever you are, wherever you are from, whatever you believe, you are welcome. May this site be a place of a true hospitality, where strangers can become friends, where friends can become family, and where we all can know the reconciling love of God that breaks down barriers.

Our hope and prayer is that this site will be a place of warmth and refreshment, a place of peace and tranquility. But even more, may it be a place where God speaks to us, touches us, and brings us into the place of transformation."

Finding things & moving round the site.
At the top of the screen, after the words "CPSA Diocese of Johannesburg", is a list of topics that mostly arise from the Diocesan Vision. There is a close relationship between these topics and the Diocesan Portfolio Teams that co-ordinate the work of the Diocese. The visitor to the site will find most information & resources under these headings. Click on the text and it opens up the relevant section of the site.

The left side of the screen is used to give access to certain items that are considered so important and / or newsworthy that they should be available as soon as the site finishes loading. Click on a button and it opens up the relevant section of the site.

Jumping around the site & getting back to the beginning.
The top section of the screen is standard for the site. It allows you to leap between topics without resorting to the back button of your browser.

The left section of the screen has buttons that display details relating to the topic. It also has some small buttons at the bottom for navigating back to certain parts of the site, as follows:

Buttons used

Navigates to

The site Home Page (with the Diocesan crest)

The site Landing Page (where you were before getting here)

The topic's welcome message and purpose statement.

The top of the current page.

If you can not see any of these buttons, scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Printing, fonts and size of text.
The pages should print without any problems, your PC fitting the information to the page, inserting page breaks as needed, controlling the margins, applying your default font style and point size to the printed page. Let us know if you have problems!

Most (I wish I could say all) pages allow you to adjust the size of the text displayed on the screen. Your browser provides the functionality - try looking for a View item on the menu bar and its pop-down menu. [This only affects the screen display - not the printed page.]
