    Follow the R24 (Market Street) and turn right into Essex.

About the Parish:

The Bez Valley, Bertrams, Kensington (below the hill), Judith Paarl area is home to a community of enormous diversity - newly settled, old residents - middle class to indigent. Our mission is to be the presence of Christ in Bez Valley, in word, worship and outreach.

We are deeply committed to the work of Genesis, the care centre for men with problems of alcohol and substance abuse, the subsidiary day-care it runs for the homeless, to Bethany, the home for abused women and their children, and Saints Pre-school.

Genesis and Bethany are in Bertrams, near Ellis Park. Some of the folk from the northern suburbs we invite there are scared for their cars. None of us has lost a car there, though we visit nearly daily.

Saints Pre-school began because we needed a safe and good pre-school for the fluctuating group of children living with their mums at Bethany. Older children are enrolled at their own primary schools. We started a care group in the Parish hall. This has now grown to a fully-fledged pre-school of 95 children, ranging from a few months to six years. We charge R390 per month for 11 months, including two meals and teas. We have links with TMI, Wits Social Work, SAPS and Sunshine Schools. We have had wonderful support from other parishes, especially Sunninghill.

We have completed the new baby sector.
