Offers to Start and Strengthen Parishes

Justification Statements:

There is a steady flow of tens of thousands of people into Gauteng every month. New communities are being formed within the borders of this Diocese all the time.
People in transition are more open to the Gospel of Jesus Christ than settled communities.
Statistically, the most effective way to reach groups of non-believers is to start a new church among them. People are less threatened by new works than established ones.
Half of all South Africans are aged twenty one and younger. We must present the Gospel of Jesus to them in contemporary and culturally relevant ways.

Activities

We will identify communities where there is inadequate Gospel witness and plan to reach them by starting new Parishes there.
We will train people in intercessory prayer and evangelism, and for local and cross-cultural missions.
We will form teams of lay people with a variety of gists.
We will identify, encourage and train teens for a variety of types of Christian ministry.
We will combine efforts with the existing evangelistic groups in the Diocese.
We will start an experimental parish this year using culturally relevant and non-traditional methods.
We will encourage church plants.
We will assist established parishes that are seeking renewal and growth.
We will partner with mission and church planting organisations like SOMA, Iviviyo, Africa Ministry Resources and Soul Survivor.
We will work with other branches of the Body of Christ as they also introduce people to Jesus, establish communities of faith and seek to transform Johannesburg.
