7 January 2005

TO ALL RECTORS/CHURCHWARDENS, SCHOOLS AND ORGANISATIONS

Dear Friends

SYNOD

You will be aware that the next Sitting of Synod will be at Holy Cross, Orlando on Saturday, 29th January 2005.

The business for the day will be discussion in plenary session of the New Rules. Since the last session of Synod at St Barnabas, the following will have happened.

The Synod Committee met at St Gabriel's, Florida on 2nd October 2004.

The Synod Committee met and discussed a redraft on 3rd October at St Gabriel, Florida. The next draft of New Rules was circulated to all who attended the meetings and various others who had asked if they could submit their comments.

The next draft will be printed in motion form and handed out to everyone who comes to Synod.

The Bishop feels that as many new ideas are contained in the current redraft, there should be ample time for discussion, and no one should feel pressured to cut short the debate. We have therefore allocated provisionally all day on 29th January, 19th March and 23rd April for this discussion.

But hopefully the 2nd reading could be completed by the end of this Saturday. We would then meet fairly briefly at the end of March for Accounts and 3rd reading of the new Rules and the elections.

Yours in His service
