Profile of Bishop Brian.

Photo of the bishop.Bishop Brian was elected Bishop in November 1999 and consecrated in May 2000. Educated at King Edward's in Johannesburg he spent 9 years in the commercial sector. He then did three years theological training at St. Paul's in 1976 after which he became a Curate at St. Martin's-in-the-Veld, Rosebank. He served as Rector in Lichtenburg followed by a spell as Visiting Missioner in the Diocese of Chicago. It was during this period that he was awarded his doctorate of Ministry from McCormick Seminary. He returned to St. Martin's-in-the-Veld where he served as Rector until he was elected Bishop. He married Susan in 1971 and they have three children, two married daughters and a son. She has always been actively supportive of Brian's ministry.

Brian says "I hold passionately to the belief that the new Testament model of ministry is that of the ministry of all believers and that, because this is so, the will of God is corporately discerned and implemented. This belief determines the shape of all my ministry". Brian has sought, during his time as Bishop, to give life and meaning to these words. He seeks to ensure that people are equipped for their ministry and training them is one of his strengths. He has read widely and continues to educate himself in all matters relevant to his ministry.
